Pajamas....oh pajamas!!!!!! where are you????

So, where can you find COTTON, not fleece, one-piece pajamas with footies that don't cost a fortune? Children's Place has a couple of selections, but not many.

I have several fleece pajamas, but I need cotton. Any ideas?

Thanks!

My boy turns ONE on Saturday!

How did that happen? Alex will turn one year old on Saturday. Everyone told me it goes by fast, but I had no idea just HOW fast! I try to make sure I am "in the moment" with my son. I catch myself straying from time to time, worrying about the dishes or the laundry or my job. But then I catch myself. When I am with my son. I am with my son. Nothing else matters. Easier said than done sometimes. But I do try!

So we are having THREE parties to celebrate my son's first birthday. I didn't want to bombard him with so many people at once so we are celebrating this Friday night with my husband's family. Saturday night with my family and Sunday night with our friends. That way everyone can get some loving from Alex without him being too overwhelmed.

I still can't believe he is going to be one.

He...won't...SLEEP!!!!!!!

WHEN! I ask you WHEN! Is my child going to sleep throught the night????? I am going on almost two years of not sleeping through the night myself.

Wierd thing is, every now and again, he will sleep through the night. Then it's a growth spurt, or he's teething, or he's sick. There are real reasons he is waking up in the night, but sometimes, I think it's Seperation Anxiety.

I love my child so much...but a rested mommy is a happy mommy.

Parents, what worked for you?

My son has found his voice...and his strength!

Alex is 10 months old and every day it seems like he is making a new sound. Well recently he has started screaming. Which is hilarious...most of the time. It's not so funny when he's upset and decides to scream at the top of his lungs to make sure you know it!

The other day, I was cleaning out our office. We have some unused exercise equipment in there including some little 5 pound weights. Well Alex decides that he needs to pick one up. So he did. He PICKED UP a 5 pound weight and started walking around the room with it! After the initial shock wore off, the fear set in. I could just see him dropping this 5 pound weight on one of his cute little toes.

So I took it away from him...and he started screaming.

Sigh...

Finally...a new post! This whole motherhood thing is exhausting!

Yet again, I apologize for taking sooooo long to post. I am now in the chaotic throws of Motherhood. Trying to balance work, home, life in general and my new little family. I thought I was busy before? Sheesh! I wasn't busy at all!

I think I'm really only busy in my mind though. Anything that doesn't involve spending time with my son definitely falls to second place. So trying to schedule and balance so many second place events makes me feel really busy.

I LOVE being a mother. It's so much cooler than I ever thought it would be. My son is 10 months old now. I can't believe it's almost time for him to turn 1! I've got to plan a birthday party!

Any advice for a first time Mom about what NOT to do at a one-year old's birthday party? I certainly would appreciate your advice!

He slept thru the night!!!!! FINALLY!!!

So I am 7 1/2 months in and my son slept TWO NIGHTS IN A ROW through the night. Should I even attempt to get excited and think that he has taken a turn in his sleeping habits? Or is this just a fluke? I really hope he will begin sleeping thru the night every night. That would be great. Of course I was up every few hours checking on him. haha!

We know you are excited to see the baby.

A good friend of mine just had her baby this past Monday and a recent texting conversation with her has reminded me of something that I wanted to pass along.

Unless you are an immediate family member or extremely close friend...don't ambush the hospital to see the baby right after it has been born. We know you are excited, but the parents and the baby have just been through something major. The Mother has either had surgery or pushed a basketball though her smallest area. Either way, it takes a major toll on her body and she is exhausted. Not only that, she now has an infant to figure out how to take care of and learn to breastfeed if she chooses to do so. These are not easy things.

So...when you come busting up in there with the absolute best of intentions, she has to force herself to be polite. It is a mixture of emotions for her. She WANTS you to meet her new baby and she WANTS to see you because she loves you, but she is completely exhausted, emotionally overwhelmed, terrified about her future and overloaded with hormones. This is a strange combination that she has to figure out how to balance out.

So please. Send her a card. Call her or send her a text message. But don't try to visit the hospital right away. Let the new parents get the baby home into their comfortable and semi-normal environment where they are better equipped to entertain guests.

Just thought I would pass that along, because most likely, they would never tell you that because they don't want to hurt your feelings.

We had a good night!

I put Alex to bed right around 7:30pm. He woke up around 10:30pm to eat which makes sense. He had 3 tablespoons of oatmeal at 6:45 mixed with 2 oz. of formula. I gave him the additional 2 oz before bed but he typically eats 6oz. at a meal. So that makes sense. Slowly figuring it out here.

It is 5:42am now and he hasn't woken up ALL NIGHT! I did...but he didn't. Every 2 hours I pretty much woke up and went in to check on him.

Alex has started sleeping on his side with his face pointed sort of down which completely freaks me out. But he is strong and has been holding his head up since birth so I hope that human instincts will take over here. He did roll onto his stomach at one point. I heard him start to cry a bit. This was around 5:15am so I got up figuring he was up for the day. When I went in there he was on his STOMACH! Ahhhh!!!! Sheesh kid. So I rolled him back on his side and put a long semi-hard caterpillar stuffed animal under his arm to keep him from rolling. And now...I am watching him like a hawk on the video monitor. Great gift by the way.

We are slowly figuring out how to sleep through the night and it has not required the "cry it out" method which I am just not strong enough to do.

Will I get a full nights sleep soon? Something tells me that he will, but I won't for awhile.

CHILD! Would you please go to sleep!

So, Alex is 21 weeks now. We are getting closer and closer to sleeping through the night and I am anxiously awaiting the glorious time when that happens. Last week, there was one night that he slept from 11:30pm all the way until 6:30am!!!! Of course...I didn't sleep that whole time. I got up every couple of hours to make sure he was still breathing. I wasn't able to relax. I thought that one night of full sleep was the beginning of many nights and that finally after more than a year I might be able to actually sleep like a normal person from pm to am? Not so much...that was only one night.

He is getting ready to hit his stride, I can tell. But this morning at 3:30am when I had fed him and changed him and he STILL refused to go to sleep? I found myself at the end of my rope. Completely exhausted. Most times I am completely patient. But this morning I actually found myself getting aggravated with him. It's not his fault. WE just haven't figured out what is best for US to make the full nights sleep happen.

I put the baby down in the crib and paced the hallway to calm myself down so I could go in and sooth him. As I was pacing I considered the "let him cry it out" method. But I'm not sure I'm a fan of that. Well just as I was about to go back in and pick him up, he stopped crying and went back to sleep. This is about 4:30 now. So I went back to bed. At 5:30am he was awake cooing and just chilling out in his crib. So I woke up, put some toothpicks under my eyelids and managed to get myself into the shower. I stayed awake with him until about 7:30am when he got tired and I decided we both needed a nap. That nap helped. Sort of. It's 10:22am now and I feel like I need another nap.

When will the lack of sleep end? Ever?

So would you mind keeping an eye on his poop?

Haha!!! My little boy was a bit constipated so I called the doc. They said to add one teaspoon per two ounces of formula of Dark Caro Syrup as needed. So I started doing that. Alex generally has his daily BM at daycare (lucky me) so I had to ask them "Would you mind keeping an eye on his poop"? THAT was an interesting conversation.

I'm so tired I can't even spell

He "parties" like a rock star.

My little marshmallow party's like a rock star---at night

So, Alex was getting close to sleeping through the night. He was only waking up once per night. That was manageable. Now for the past two weeks he's been waking up at 1am, 4am and for good around 5:30am. I am a zombie.

He is four months old today!

Alex still isn't sleeping through the night...WHEN?!!!!

My boy has been sick most of his life now. So have I. Ugh. We are trying to wrap up our SECOND cold since he has been born. We both have it. It's so annoying and I feel so bad that he is dealing with this. Poor baby. Having to suck the snot out of his nose is NOT fun. I believe the mucus in his tummy is keeping him from eating all that he should in one feeding so he is eating more frequently which causes him to wake up...Hope he feels better soon!

By the way, I highly recommend the battery operated snot sucker. It's helpful.

No Ben...these are not guns

I got a picture from my sister the other day. This is her son (my nephew) Ben. He is four years old and thought these would make some cool guns for his playtime. What do you think?

GREAT WEBSITE!

My sister started this blog and she is a wonderful mother. I know you will enjoy her web/blog.

My boy is 3 months old!

I can't believe how fast time seems to be going. Everyone told me to cherish every moment and I truly have. I've caught myself a few times trying to do too much with work or personal obligations. One day, I only got to spend time with Alex in the morning. My husband picked him up from Daycare, then I didn't get home til late and he was already asleep for the night. I made a decision right then that I would not let that happen again. Nothing is more important then spending time with my son. Nothing. If he can't go with me? I'm not going! To a point here folks. One of my things I enjoy is going to see a movie. I will continue to do that, but beyond that, nope. I don't want to look back and say that I missed time with my son because I was working too much. So I need to find a nice healthy balance.

Party in my crib 2am!

Someone bought Alex a cute little onesie that said "Party in my Crib 2am". I should have had him wear it last night. It was a great party! Yeah...right...

My feet grew...

What is UP with that???  None of my shoes fit after being pregnant!  I'm not totally healed yet from childbirth and my body is slowly returning to it's old frumpy jiggly self, but of all the things, I never thought my FEET would get bigger!  I've asked around and all the mom's agree that this happens to your feet.  Even better?  My right foot is bigger than my left foot.  Unbelievable.

So what did I get from pregnancy?  Long-lasting stretch marks and fat feet.  But a beautiful, amazing, sweet little boy that I love more than I can possibly explain.  Who cares about my stupid feet anyway?

Alex is 2 months old now and I've gone back to work.

This past Monday, October 19th, I came back to work.  I am happy to be back, but I miss hanging out with Alex all day everyday.  I gotta' tell you though, by about the 4th week I was starting to go a little bit bonkers.  I am a very active person and my mind runs about 100 miles an hour constantly.  So although my body was content with all the rest, my mind was going nuts.  So it's good to be at work where I can release all that intellectual energy and when I pick up my son each afternoon, it's all about him from that moment on.

Also, I love his daycare.  They are so sweet and I know they are caring for him even better than I could during the daytimes.  They made me fell totally at ease Monday morning when I dropped him off.  I had cried the night before the first day and barely slept from the anxiety of yet another life change, but once I cried when I dropped him off, I haven't cried since.  Everything sorta feels right now.

Alex is 6 weeks old now!

Wow...6 weeks have gone by.  On October 16th, Alex will have his 2 month immunization shots and then I will return to work on October 19th.  I was going to try to come back to work on October 12th, but decided to wait one more week for Alex to get his shots and for him to pass that 2 month mark before I take him to daycare.  I know when I drop him off, I will be a basket case, but I'm ready for life to be the way it's going to be.  I'm ready to figure out how to balance work and life with a new baby.

I had my 6 week post-natal check up with Dr. Martin too.  Everything looks great and she said the swelling in my stomach should subside completely around  three months.  Do you know after 6 weeks that my stomach muscles are STILL sore?  That was quite a workout I guess!

Being pregnant and delivering Alex is all sort of a distant memory now.  My life now revolves around this adorable little boy who now is smiling at me!  What a beautiful smile it is!
